Modern Whites at Via Vecchia | C&C
Event location: Via Vecchia WineryThis wedding remains a favorite in our archives—not only for its beauty, but for its enduring relevance. Though Via Vecchia Winery has since closed its doors, this August 2021 celebration continues to hold a place on our website as a timeless example of classic floral design, thoughtful layering, and natural elegance that transcends venue availability.
Set on a sunlit summer day in Ohio, the design unfolded with winding greenery throughout the space, paired with delicate white blooms and abundant candlelight that carried the celebration seamlessly from afternoon into evening. The atmosphere felt romantic yet composed—an aesthetic that remains as resonant today as it was then. Under the creative direction of Natasha of Aisle & Company, the day unfolded with ease, intention, and quiet confidence.
Green-and-white florals anchored the palette, offering a look that felt fresh and modern while avoiding trend-driven excess. Rather than relying on uniformity, the design emphasized variation in texture and botanical interest. Dark green foliages were thoughtfully woven with petite blooms, creating depth and movement that harmonized beautifully with the surrounding bridal party tones.
Arrangements featured a curated mix of seasonal and textural elements including ranunculus, lisianthus, stock, statice, petite pom-pon dahlias, and star dianthus, layered among rich greenery selections. Even the smallest details—such as the boutonniere—were designed to feel intentional and quietly refined.
The ceremony backdrop embraced simplicity: a clean white canvas softened by natural strands of smilax climbing the venue walls in an organic, unfussed manner. Smilax, when available, offers an unparalleled sense of movement and softness, and its use here helped define the ceremony space without overwhelming it. (Availability note: smilax is typically unavailable from early spring through early summer, depending on seasonal conditions.)
Throughout the venue, large-scale arrangements were placed atop barrels—an organic and fitting design choice for a winery setting. These pieces were composed primarily of textured greenery such as elaeagnus, podocarpus, huckleberry, bay, and nagi, accented with blooms selected specifically to withstand August heat.
The outdoor patio served as a natural extension of the celebration during cocktail hour. Bars provided by Aiden & Grace were softened with trailing smilax, while cocktail tables were subtly embellished with bay foliage gathered at their linens. Even the seating placement display—provided by Aisle & Company’s rental department—was treated as a design moment, adorned with layered greenery and bright white blooms to withstand full sun exposure while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic.
Inside, the reception space revealed itself like a romantic garden gathering. Guest tables featured a mix of compositions: low arrangements, elevated designs on gold Harlow stands, and long rectangular tables adorned with lush garlands spilling gracefully toward the floor. Varieties of deep greenery created fullness and texture, while white pillar candles added warmth and glow as the late afternoon sun filtered through the glass doors.
As the evening transitioned, ceremony pieces were thoughtfully repurposed to dress the sweetheart table during the room flip—a seamless continuation of the design narrative. The result was a space that felt layered, generous, and celebratory, with beauty visible from every vantage point.
Though Via Vecchia Winery is no longer operating, this wedding remains a defining example of how classic design, natural materials, and intentional floral storytelling can endure beyond a moment in time.
