A Catholic Wedding at St. Mary’s German Village & The Athletic Club of Columbus | E&Z
Event location: The Athletic Club of ColumbusE & Z were married in a traditional Catholic ceremony at St. Mary’s German Village before hosting their reception at The Athletic Club of Columbus — a pairing that blends historic reverence with classic downtown formality.
Our approach to Catholic weddings is rooted in experience and respect for the setting. In churches like St. Mary’s German Village, florals are meant to complement the sacrament, not compete with it. For E & Z, that meant a sculpted white bouquet and thoughtfully scaled accents that felt appropriate to the space — refined, intentional, and cohesive.
At The Athletic Club of Columbus, the floral focus shifted to two defining installations: a spiral staircase floral moment and a modern white mantel design composed of baby’s breath and roses. The staircase installation emphasized movement and verticality, responding to the Club’s historic interior lines. The mantel was intentionally restrained — crisp white blooms arranged in a clean, contemporary composition that allowed the architecture to lead.
Reception tables leaned heavily into candlelight, with white roses and baby’s breath used sparingly for softness and cohesion. The overall effect was layered but controlled — florals supporting atmosphere rather than overwhelming it.
The day was coordinated by Sarah Straty of Aisle & Company, ensuring a seamless transition from St. Mary’s German Village to The Athletic Club of Columbus. Photography by Asteria Photography — whose work has been featured in Vogue Magazine — captured the sculptural quality and balance of the installations with clarity and precision.
