Erin and John's glamorous wedding at the Athletic Club of Columbus (and an introduction to the talented Lisa Sullivan, event manager at the ACC)
One of our most photographic weddings to date is the wedding of Erin and John. This beautiful day was a true joy to be a part of, especially working with Aisle & Company, the planner for the event and Stephanie Kase Photography whose gallery of these images is not only flawless but also monumental in size. To top it all off, getting to work with venue coordinator, Lisa Sullivan at the Athletic Club of Columbus always makes the process and joy of the day that much better! We'll be introducing Lisa Sullivan at the end of this post, so be sure to scroll all the way through to hear more about her!
My favorite aspect of the florals for Erin and John was the generous amount of greenery that we installed on the grand staircase, focusing most heavily at the base of the staircase for added drama in photos. This particular greenery is one that we harvest locally.
Erin's bouquet was what dreams are made of with layers of garden roses, peonies, and a greenery that we grow here in the Madison House cutting gardens -- the name of it is our little secret!
Taking place at the First Congregational Church in Columbus, Ohio, Erin and John's celebration of marriage was full of sweet moments in this beautiful historic church.
The two ceremony arrangements placed atop our gold stands were repurposed later at the Athletic Club in front of the mantle, which you'll see photos of later in this post.
Bridesmaid bouquets featured a mix of roses, spray roses, silver dollar eucalyptus, and more greenery that we grow in our cutting gardens.
Coordinating well with the staircase, we used the same greenery on the mantle, which creates a striking yet natural contrast against the red backdrop.
Centerpieces were elegant and dramatic, with some being more round and classic, as on the head table and others having a bit more whimsy and texture.
Some tables had a curated collection of our gold candle holders with italian ruscus carefully scattered among the candles.
One detail that many of our customers have been looking at in the last couple of years is an accent of greenery at each place setting. We chose rosemary for this occasion. As rosemary is for remembrance, it's the perfect sentiment and smells amazing!
We'd now love to introduce Lisa Sullivan, event manager for the Athletic Club of Columbus. We first met and began working with Lisa Sullivan back in 2012 when she was an independent wedding planner under the name Lisa Sullivan Events. Working with Lisa from that very first wedding was a true pleasure. She not only makes things easier on our customers, streamlining and simplifying the decision-making process, but also makes our job go more smoothly, as details are clearly thought out and communicated to all parties. Lisa is calm, straightforward, professional, and kind -- characteristics you definitely want out of your wedding coordinator!
Our first wedding which we got to design with Lisa in 2012 was our largest and most detailed up to that point. As each year progressed, our endeavors with Lisa's events blossomed into even more extensive projects. We continued our collaborations when Lisa made the move to Nationwide Hotel as the event coordinator years later, getting involved in many wonderful weddings at Nationwide with her and even having the opportunity to set up a huge flower wall feature at Columbus's bridal show when it was situated at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. When Lisa made the move to continue her career path as a wedding coordinator and took the position at the ACC, we joyfully followed her lead. As you can see in this post as well as the two previous blog posts, the customers who we have the opportunity to work with at the ACC love beautiful florals and fabulous greenery installs. We certainly have Lisa to thank for these great opportunities and are so grateful for the strong business relationship we've developed over the last 8 years with her and the companies she's worked for.
