Designing for a Spring Wedding at the Athletic Club of Columbus

Lauren and Aaron's February 2018 wedding held at the picturesque Athletic Club of Columbus was a joy to be a part of and design for. Lush, romantic, and elegant are words we'd use to describe this couple's floral style. One of the wonderful aspects of designing a wedding in February is the access to Clooney Hanoi Ranunculus. This particular type of ranunculus (see the large pale blush blooms featured in her bouquet below) is larger than regular ranunculus and looks just flawless in photography. One of my personal favorite features of Lauren's bridal bouquet was the pairing of the long, trailing jasmine vine along with the fluttery leaves of the silver dollar eucalyptus.

I believe this was the first wedding we had done in which we installed these gorgeous vines up the grand staircase at the ACC. In this particular case, we used Smilax and took it all the way up to the very top of the staircase. In some of our more recent weddings which I'll be sharing later, we are placing a greater emphasis on the vines at the lower 12-15' or so of the staircase where it will be most heavily photographed. This makes such a dramatic setting at the entryway here, not to mention a fabulous photo op!

The mantle at the Athletic Club is certainly a dramatic backdrop and lovely area to add large and impressive florals. We used a low and a high piece here for added interest.

The centerpieces used were a balance of tall and short arrangements, all designed in a very controlled, elegant, and traditional style. A third centerpiece style of floating candles and loose greenery add a nice complement to the bridal bouquet by use of the silver dollar eucalyptus.

We grew specialty amaryllis of various types over the winter months in 2018, and we chose to add a pop of that here and there, as shown in the below arrangement. We grow many unique cut flowers and other ornamentals and often add special little touches from our own cutting gardens and extensive landscape beds that will make your arrangements that much more novel.
