A Timeless, Black & White Wedding {Columbus, Ohio Wedding Florist}

This timeless fall wedding was filled with special touches by the bride and her very thoughtful mother. Special accents such as solid white pumpkins purchased from a local farm in Pleasantville, Ohio, just 45 minutes south-east of Columbus, Ohio, as well as bushel baskets of potted mums and almost-black pansies and petunias decorated the altar so tastefully.
Laura wanted to make sure that her fall wedding gave the feeling of fall but with the subdued and classic tones of black and white, rather than the traditional orange and red tones of fall. When we sat down to discuss flower selections, we carefully went through several books to pick out the perfect flowers that complemented her taste and style.

The bride's bouquet, composed of black calla lilies, white dahlias, roses, and spray roses, chocolate cosmos, fiddlehead ferns, and fanciful feathers was so much fun to create! I was so excited to have been given the freedom to create and suggest ideas as Laura's wedding florist!

"I loved my bouquet! My flowers turned out exactly how I wanted them, and the colors were perfect!" ~ Laura, bride October 2010.

Bridesmaids bouquets included black magic roses, white roses and dahlias, tiny chocolate cosmos, fern curls, and bear grass.

On the tables, we used freeze-dried rose petals in a deep red color, which added to the dramatic romantic feel of the event. Laura sells candles for Gold Canyon Candles, so we used lots of these placed on the head table and around the centerpieces, in her favorite scent.

Next to the head table, I arranged 3 oversized contemporary tall square planters filled with Colocasia, Euphorbia 'Diamond Frost', and a large garden mum. The Colocasia's bold leaves created a beautiful modern backdrop for this image.

I thought that Matt looked so handsome with his Black Magic Rose and Black Feather Boutonniere. Laura worked with me to wrap the ribbons around the stems of the boutonnieres, giving it a bit of her own personal touch.

Here you can see the large white pumpkins (which I understand are actually gourds), and the vintage bushel baskets which we purchased on etsy, and then painted black, filling them with white pansies, black velvet petunias, cabbage, and more. Using flowering plants in baskets is a great idea for your fall wedding in Columbus, Ohio, not to mention a great way to get a lot of volume at an affordable price.
