A Modern Styled Shoot In Downtown Columbus at The Fig Room

Columbus, Ohio Wedding Florist

In the summer of 2020, amidst a time of not so much wedding work available to us, we were invited to be a part of an amazing team responsible for creating this fresh and organic styled shoot at a great new location called the Fig Room. Having a contemporary feel with lots of greenery, wispy textures, touches of dark florals contrasting white and neutral elements, along with striking black ribbons and taper candles gave us just the look. Wedding planner, Courtney Heibel, owner of Rooted Together brought together a team of great vendors to show off The Fig Room's clean, industrial space. The vendor team is as follows:

Hair/Makeup: @stilesalonandspa @cocohairstylist

Gown: @blovedbridal

Mensware: @pursuityourself @shopsamson

Venue: @thefigroom_614

Photographer: @kismetvisuals

The Fig Room is such a fresh pallet and truly came alive with our large greenery floral installation placed against their white-washed brick wall. The subtle hints of greenery at the back of the aisle, together with the wall greenery created a romantic and inviting space set for an intimate celebration. We also placed our white columns with floral arrangements and black candelabra opposite the greenery along the brick backdrop for architectural interest.

One of the most exciting things to create is a styled shoot bouquet. As it's coming together, more unique ideas and tiny details that are not usually grouped together come to mind, making the bouquet even more remarkable than planned. Every detail of this bouquet, from the foraged foliages, foraged grass plumes, pods, flowering italian oregano, dark burgundy smokebush, hosta leaves from a local friend's garden, and ferns, to the fluffy 'White Cloud' garden roses, Star of Bethlehem, white ranunculus and ruffling white cosmos, is soft and delicate, yet full of wonderful textures.

This tablescape has us wanting to remember and capture every inch of its' beauty! We loved the modern and moody vibe added through use of the black candles and chairs with contrasting dinnerware!

A collection of foraged foliages and grasses, dried dill from the garden, queen anne's lace from the field, pods, oregano, sedge, cosmos from our cutting gardens, and Star of Bethlehem were all woven together in this long piece in compliment of the bridal bouquet. We also tied it to the look of the ceremony backdrop with pops of "fig" colour coming from allium and heuchera leaves.

With the wood and metal chairs, there is a more rustic feel with the tablescape. Which makes these succulent place settings, a perfect fit.

These gentlemen look sharp in their black and grey suits paired with our very textural boutonnieres, one being made with heuchera, flowering italian oregano and green thistle buds.

This boutonniere consisted of fern, wire vine (meuhlenbeckia), unripened blackberries, fern shoots, a small hosta leaf and a scabiosa pod, finished off with black velvet ribbon.
