Hi! I’m Lynette Higginbotham, the owner and lead designer of MadisonHouse Designs LLC with my husband, Fred Higginbotham III. I’m so excited that you’ve landed on our website and are interested in our services. I have had the amazing blessing of seeing a dream come to reality and beyond after going public with our business in 2011. Since 2010, I have been practicing the art of wedding flower design and absolutely love it. Being surrounded by fresh flowers and sharing this love and passion for nature with others so that I can create things of beauty in bouquets, arrangements, landscapes, and more is incredibly rewarding to me. As a child, I remember working closely with my parents in my mother’s perennial gardens, working on the farm with my dad planting and harvesting many different kinds of vegetables, cut flowers, and hay, and spending precious moments with my grandmother picking and snapping green beans and talking about house plants with her. I need plants and flowers. It’s just who I am. I received my Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, majoring in Landscape Horticulture from The Ohio State University in 2003 followed by an incredible and challenging overseas internship in Holland with a cut-flower grower. After college, I spent seven fast years designing interior tropical landscapes for offices, container gardens for high-end residential and commercial settings, and holiday decorating. After our third child was born in 2011 and I saw myself nearing 35, I knew it was time to get my business started. With a leap of faith, I quit my well-paying and commissioned “director of sales” position so that I could be home with my little ones and get my business up and running. Little did I know, it would pretty much take off over night, but not without many all-nighters, a ton of hard work, and constant attention to detail for our wonderful customers. We are glamorous .. pretty much never… what we make is glamorous, but the process of designing to accomplish your finished product often involves hours of planning before we even begin the actual work, followed by heaps of boxes of flowers to unpack, bags and bags of cut stems and foliage to haul to the compost pile, sweeping over and over again as we stand on growing piles of debris, buckets of flowers just everywhere to weave through and trip over, and did I mention… sometimes working all night long to ensure not a single detail is missed and that it is all done with time-consuming care. We love weddings, we love brides, and we’re good at it. After the many years of experience in the industry, and exposure to unique and extensive plant and flower variations that your typical florist may not even know about, we bring a unique aesthetic to the table which is not only customized and tailored to your individual style but is also affordable. Working with color and texture, selecting the most unique combinations of florals and foliages in synthesis with other mixed media such as feathers, branches, textiles, antique finds, and other components is where I flourish. With nearly 15 years in the horticultural design industry, I look forward to offering my creative services and ideas to make your wedding, event, landscapes, and other special designs amazing and unforgettable! As of spring 2015, we are now offering the perfect extension to our floral design services for events and invite you to consider us as your event stylist, handling all visual details for your wedding to create a cohesive look that will brand your event and simplify your contact list. Here are pictures of our wonderful, hardworking team (and my children who are always close by, just as I like). I’m the one with the purple bouquet and the long cascade bouquet.
